Silvernagle remains undefeated at Scotties

Jan 23, 2019 | 6:00 PM

Make it three straight for Robyn Silvernagle.

The North Battleford rink is off to a hot start at the 2019 Scotties Viterra Women’s Provincial Championships after breaking a tie in the ninth end and hanging on to defeat Penny Barker’s team 5-4 Wednesday afternoon, improving to 3-0.

Tuesday in Humboldt, the team defeated Team Mitchell in the first draw 10-1 after seven ends and Team Anderson 9-7 in the second draw after nine.

Elsewhere on the ice, Sherry Just kept Ashley and Carly Howard’s team away long enough as they cruised to an 11-7 win after nine ends, improving their record to 4-0.

Chantelle Eberle’s team got a bit of redemption against Sherry Anderson after falling 6-5 in last year’s semifinal by blowing out Team Anderson 8-2 after seven ends.

Jessica Mitchell’s team looked to have its first win of the tournament after a four-point eighth end gave them a 7-6 lead, but Amber Holland’s rink came right back and won 12-7.

After Draw Four, the standings are:

Team Just 4-0

Team Silvernagle 3-0

Team Holland 3-1

Team Eberle 2-2

Team Anderson 2-2

Team Barker 1-2

Team Streifel 1-2

Team Howard 0-3

Team Mitchell 0-4

Draw Five takes place at 7:30 p.m.:

Team Howard v. Team Mitchell

Team Barker v. Team Holland

Team Eberle v. Team Streifel

Team Just v. Team Silvernagle
