The Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan are hosting Community Forums and Feasts at the Friendship Centres across Saskatchewan in which we would like to gather input on Bill S-3. We will be hosting a Community Feast and Forum at the Battlefords Indian and Metis Friendship Centre on Thursday, January 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Bill S-3 is a proposed amendment to the Indian Act, in response to the Desheneaux Case. We are gathering input on some of the issues that the Bill may address including:
- Inequalities within the Indian Act;
- Indian Status registration;
- Responsibility of Band membership; and,
- Recommendations moving forward for the Government of Canada.
In addition to hosting the Community Forums and Feasts, we will also be developing an online survey to help gather more information.
