Battlefords U12 girls softball team wins another gold in Moose Jaw

The Battlefords Bandits wasted no time adding another gold medal to their trophy case over the weekend.

The U12 girls softball team repeated their June 5 Saskatoon performance by going a perfect 5-0 to win the Moose Jaw tournament.

Bandits coach Regan Lavallee said everyone on the team played perfectly. “One of our players almost hit one over the fence, it was really exciting.”

They faced Moose Jaw teams in both the semi-final and final, landing 12 runs in both games while keeping the opposing teams away from home plate.

Lavallee said she’s ecstatic to see her team play to a perfect 10-0 record over the past two tournaments.

“The final was just a consistent effort from our team,” Lavallee explained.  “There was no real turning point. I was expecting good things from the team this year and to go 10-0 so far at two tournaments is amazing.”

Next up for the Bandits is a tournament on their home turf when they host provincials at the Battleford flats July 8-10.

Provincials is the highest level tournament for the U12 age group, and Lavallee said they’re hoping to have a strong showing to cap off what has already been a memorable season.
