School reconsiders warning to stand for national anthem

MANHEIM, Pa. — Officials at a central Pennsylvania high school are revising an announcement that tells people to stand for the national anthem and warns they will be kicked out if they don’t show proper respect.

The LNP media group reported Thursday that Manheim Township school administrators were rewording the script after some parents were upset when the warning was read before a girls’ soccer game.

The script says people must “rise and face the flag” or “be removed from the stadium.” Men must remove hats.

A district spokeswoman tells LNP school officials are planning to rework the announcement before this weekend’s games.
