Ontario Red beats Quebec 4-1 to win under-18 women’s hockey championship

REGINA — Avery Mitchell and Camryn Tait had power-play goals 23 seconds apart at the end of the second period as Ontario Red beat Quebec 4-1 on Sunday to win Canada’s under-18 women’s hockey championship.

Sarah Fillier scored and added an assist for Ontario Red, which has won the title for the 10th time. Alexa Vasko added some insurance with a goal in the third period.

Joannie Garand replied for Quebec with a little over two minutes left in the game.

Alex Allan scored twice to lift British Columbia to a bronze medal with a 5-3 win over Ontario Blue on Sunday.
