Drivers behaving badly on provincial highways

Based on the latest figures by Saskatchewan RCMP, it would appear drivers were in a real big hurry over the weekend on provincial highways.
There were 951 tickets issued for speeding or stunt driving, as part of a Mountie traffic blitz. The focus of the traffic stop was to look for the big four traffic offences — aggressive driving, seatbelt use, distracted driving, and excessive speeds.
In one incident, a driver pulled over on Highway 2 North near the Montreal Lake turnoff and was clocked travelling 151 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. He told police he was late picking up a family member. The driver’s fine was $809.
In addition to the speeding infracttions, there were also 44 impaired driving charges (alcohol) laid, 77 people caught not wearing a seatbelt, and 37 charges for distracted driving.
