Drinking water advisory issued for Lashburn

Dec 28, 2018 | 9:21 AM

UPDATE:

The Village of Cochin (including Days Beach, Trevessa Beach, Summerfield Beach, and West Chatfield Beach) is also still under a precautionary drinking water advisory, that was issued Dec. 25.

According to Saskatchewan Water Security Agency the cause may be a line break or pressure loss in the distribution system.

Saskatchewan Water Security Agency spokesperson Ron Podbielski  said advisories are typically in effect for about two days until the system is restored after the breaks have been repaired and the water has been tested to meet drinking water standards.

“It’s generally about 48 hours from the time the system is restored, assuming the water test is ok, to when we can lift the advisory,” he said.

Residents can refer to the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency website to see when the advisory is lifted for their area.

A precautionary drinking water advisory has been issued for the Town of Lashburn.

The Water Security Agency with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health issued the advisory Thursday due to a water main break.

Advisories are issued because the quality of water can’t be verified while the system is depressurized. While the advisory is in effect, people are advised to boil water for at least one minute before drinking it.

This includes water that could be ingested, such as water for brushing their teeth, washing fruits or vegetables, or for use in making ice cubes. They should also not drink water from any public drinking fountains from the public water supply while the advisory is in effect.
