City urging residents to recycle Christmas trees

Residents are urged to recycle their Christmas trees for free this season with the city so they can be turned into chips for mulch.

Trees can be dropped off at the North Battleford Parks Shop on Eighth Ave. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Jan 31.

All lights, string, wire, ornaments, tinsel, fake snow and bags must be removed from the tree before it is recycled.

The mulch is used in tree and shrub beds, improving growth by retaining moisture and suppressing weed growth.
