Pelican Narrows woman charged with second degree murder

Members of the Spiritwood RCMP were called to a residence on the Pelican Lake First Nation Jan. 7 for an altercation between an adult male and female.

When officers arrived they discovered that the 24-year-old female had minor injuries and the 39-year-old-male was deceased.  The female was arrested at the scene, transported to hospital for treatment of her injuries, and released into police custody.

Assisting with the investigation are the RCMP Major Crimes Unit North, North Battleford Forensic Identification Section, and Blood Pattern Analysts from Edmonton.   An autopsy of the deceased will be conducted in Saskatoon on Jan. 8.

Charged with second degree murder is Donya Hope Lewis of Pelican Lake First Nation in the death of Nathan James Bill also of the Pelican Lake First Nation.  Lewis and Bill were in a domestic relationship.
