Robyn Silvernagle's rink is off to a strong start at the 2019 Viterra Scotties women's provincials.

The North Battleford-based rink curled to a 10-1 win over Saskatoon's Jessica Mitchell in the opening afternoon draw after putting up four points in the seventh end.

Defending champion Sherry Anderson, curling out of Saskatoon, opened with an 8-6 victory over Regina's Kristen Streifel. Anderson stole one in the tenth to seal the victory.

Elsewhere, Saskatoon's Sherry Just downed Regina's Amber Holland 9-7 in 11 ends. Moose Jaw's Penny Barker edged Chantelle Eberle of Regina 10-9 in an extra end.

The event runs through Sunday at the Humboldt Curling Club and the winner goes on to represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
