The Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan are hosting Community Forums and Feasts at the Friendship Centres across Saskatchewan in which we would like to gather input on Bill S-3. We will be hosting a Community Feast and Forum at the Battlefords Indian and Metis Friendship Centre on Thursday, January 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
Bill S-3 is a proposed amendment to the Indian Act, in response to the Desheneaux Case. We are gathering input on some of the issues that the Bill may address including:
- Inequalities within the Indian Act;
- Indian Status registration;
- Responsibility of Band membership; and,
- Recommendations moving forward for the Government of Canada.
In addition to hosting the Community Forums and Feasts, we will also be developing an online survey to help gather more information.
More information is provided in the poster attached, as well as an informational page.
